Workers fired for joining a union worked under these conditions

Protests that began after seven workers were fired from Fernas Mining for joining a union are continuing on their 6th day. The Independent Mine Workers' Union (Bağımsız Maden-İş) shared the poor working conditions at the mine on its social media account under the heading "This is an Exposure."

Workers fired for joining a union worked under these conditions

The Independent Mine Workers' Union released details regarding the working conditions of miners at the mine located in Soma, Manisa.

In the statement made by the union, it was stated, "Workers are constantly working submerged in water with cables and equipment, despite the danger of gas leaks and electric shocks, without any precautions being taken."

The protest, which began after seven workers were fired from Fernas Mining—owned by AKP Batman Deputy Ferhat Nasıroğlu—for joining a union, is continuing on its 6th day.

Four people, including Independent Mine Workers' Union Chairman Gökay Çakır and organizing expert Başaran Aksu, are being held in custody.
