Worrying earthquake warning from Naci Görür for that region: 'It's imminent...'

Earthquake expert and geologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür was a live guest on the Gündem program, prepared and hosted by Editor-in-Chief Zeki Akbıyık, broadcast on Kanal Fırat.

Making important statements regarding the earthquake agenda, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür said, "It lies between Erzincan and the Karlıova district of Bingöl. It is about to produce an earthquake. It is not in the distant future. If it happens, it will be an earthquake over 7 and it will also be very destructive."

Görür continued as follows:

"I am currently expecting an earthquake in Tunceli. To the east of Erzincan is Karlıova. That section in between is the easternmost end of the North Anatolian Fault. We call it the Yedisu fault. It lies between Erzincan and the Karlıova district of Bingöl. It is about to produce an earthquake. It is not in the distant future. If it happens, it will be an earthquake over 7 and it will also be very destructive.

The building and population density there is not high, but my people would still lose their lives. The governor of Tunceli and the governors of that region took my words seriously. I also spoke with the district governors there. I warned them as much as I could. They are working in Tunceli.

A fault that caused the last earthquake is coming to Karlıova. Karlıova-Bingöl-Göynük. It goes to Karakoçan and from there to Elazığ, and from Elazığ to Malatya, and from there to Hatay. Now, the other place we are expecting an earthquake and are afraid of is between Karlıova and Bingöl-Göynük. It is right at the fork. The February 20 earthquakes may have transferred energy there.

You ask where the earthquake will be. It could be at least 7.4 between Bingöl-Karlıova and Erzincan. Because the earthquake recurrence period has ended. It is imminent. Secondly, there is a high probability of one occurring between Bingöl and Göynük. That would also be a magnitude 7 earthquake. It last happened around 1866. If the Bingöl-Göynük fault continues towards the southwest, it will reach Palu and Elazığ. It will pass through towards Malatya."
