Written statement from DEM following meeting with President Erdoğan: Common will reaffirmed once again
The DEM Party Imralı Delegation, which met with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, issued a written statement describing the meeting as "productive."
The DEM Party Imralı Delegation issued a statement following their meeting today (August 13, 2026) with AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan.
During the meeting, attention was drawn to the importance of the adoption by Parliament of the "Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration," known in the public eye as the "framework law."
The delegation stated that during the meeting with Erdoğan regarding developments in the "Peace and Democratic Society Process," the current stage and the steps to be taken henceforth were mutually evaluated.
The statement noted that a new era, in which the space for democracy and politics will be strengthened with the adopted law, has been opened, and included the following expressions:
"It was emphasized that this legal regulation is of vital importance for all our citizens and our country. During the meeting, the common will to continue the process with determination was reaffirmed once again. Our efforts will continue uninterrupted so that the process may proceed in the interest of every single person in our country, on the path of peace and democracy."
At the end of the statement, the DEM Party Imralı Delegation thanked all parties contributing to the healthy progress of the process, stating, "We express our gratitude to all political parties and segments of society that have given us strength with their support, suggestions, warnings, and criticisms to date."
