Yaşar Okuyan has passed away!

On December 5, former Minister of Labor and Social Security Yaşar Okuyan, who was intubated after being admitted to intensive care due to internal bleeding, has passed away at the age of 73 at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

In a statement released by Başkent University Hospital, it was stated: "Mr. Yaşar Okuyan passed away early this morning. The health condition of Yaşar Okuyan, who had been under treatment at our hospital for a long time, deteriorated in the last week, and despite all our efforts, he passed away due to multiple organ failure on December 26, 2023, at 02:46. We extend our condolences to his family and all his loved ones."

WHO IS YAŞAR OKUYAN?

Yaşar Okuyan was born on August 28, 1950, as a child of a family that had originally moved from the Büyükköy village of Rize's Çayeli district to the Elmalık village of Yalova.

He was involved in politics in nine different parties, including the MHP, ANAP, DYP, HYP, and CHP. He served as a Member of Parliament for Yalova between 1995 and 2002, and as the Minister of Labor and Social Security between 1999 and 2002.

A graduate of the Istanbul Private School of Journalism, Yaşar Okuyan worked for 21 years as a reporter, photojournalist, columnist, and intelligence manager at various newspapers, magazines, and agencies, and earned a permanent press card.

For a period, he served as the chairman of the board of the İmbat Group of Companies.

Yaşar Okuyan was married and a father of three. During the period he was active in the MHP before 1980, his brother Arif Okuyan was a member of the TKP and the owner of the party organ, Ürün magazine.
