Yeni Akit columnist Ali Karahasanoğlu defends wedding dress on Narin's coffin with scandalous remarks

The murder of Narin Güran in Diyarbakır has become the primary agenda in Turkey.

On the 19th day of search efforts, the lifeless body of 8-year-old Narin was found inside a sack, covered with stones, in the Eğertutmaz Stream.

Following an autopsy, Narin was laid to rest in the Tavşantepe neighborhood where she was murdered. The wedding dress placed on the head of 8-year-old Narin's coffin sparked reactions.

Ali Karahasanoğlu, a columnist for the reactionary newspaper Yeni Akit, responded to the criticisms regarding the wedding dress placed on the coffin with scandalous remarks.

Recalling the statement made by sociologist Ercan Geçgin to Cumhuriyet regarding the wedding dress placed on Narin's coffin, in which he said, "Think about it, a bridal veil is placed on a child's coffin. Because the only thing imagined for her is to be a man's wife," Karahasanoğlu stated, "If the associate professor of sociology had read a little, he would have known that the purpose of the veil placed on the coffin was a reference to the 'family,' which is the foundation of society, and that it is not a religious obligation but a belief in Turkish customs. He would have known that what is aimed at with this is that 'every child's goal is to establish a family to raise children useful to society'."

Karahasanoğlu continued as follows:

"What I am mainly stuck on is the sociology associate professor wanting to discredit the concept of 'family' by saying for our 8-year-old daughter Narin, 'the only thing imagined for her is to be a man's wife'..

Why can 'being a man's wife' be a subject of objection?

Or is 'being a woman's husband' a bad thing?

Are these concepts that should be demonized?

Or are they our religious and customary indispensables that we all should respect?

Instead of 'being a man's wife,' what is our sociology associate professor suggesting, I wonder?

Is the suggestion 'for a woman to be a woman's wife'?

Are they suggesting woman-to-woman.. man-to-man marriages, I wonder?

Or, as Ekrem İmamoğlu said, by saying 'it's not his turn yet, we are preparing society for it,' are they suggesting for now that women 'be the wives of all men'?

Are they trying to imply that they prefer one-night stands?"
