Yerlikaya announces: 166 suspects apprehended

The Ministry of Interior has apprehended 166 suspects in the "KUYU-46" operation, conducted simultaneously across 56 provinces against loan sharking and fraud networks. A large number of weapons, checks, promissory notes, and forged documents were seized during the operation.

Yerlikaya announces: 166 suspects apprehended

The Ministry of Interior continues its fight against organized crime groups. Most recently, 166 suspects alleged to be involved in loan sharking and fraud were apprehended in the "KUYU-46" operation, which was carried out simultaneously across 56 provinces.

The operation was conducted by the General Directorate of Security's Department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) and provincial police departments, under the instructions of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.

KOM and Financial Crimes units from many provinces, primarily Adana, Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, and Trabzon, participated in the operation.

The 166 apprehended suspects face the following charges:

Loan sharking,

Qualified fraud against public institutions and organizations,

Qualified fraud against individuals,

Counterfeiting currency,

Forgery of official and private documents,

Violation of the Tax Procedure Law.

Items Seized in the Operation

Teams reached significant findings during the operation. Among the items seized were:

20 unlicensed pistols,

4 unlicensed shotguns,

A large number of checks and promissory notes,

A workshop used for printing fake license plates.

YERLIKAYA ANNOUNCED

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya emphasized his determination in the fight against crime and criminals in a statement on his social media account. Yerlikaya stated the following:

"We will not give any breathing room to loan sharks, just as we do not to organized crime groups and gangs. We will continue our fight against crime and criminals with perseverance."

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

A large-scale investigation has been launched into the 166 suspects apprehended following the operation. Authorities stated that inspections and operations against individuals involved in similar crimes will continue.
