The fire that broke out on Yamanlar Mountain in the Karşıyaka district of İzmir and spread over a large area caused great panic. In the fire, 17 houses were reduced to ashes, and 105 houses were evacuated. 44 workplaces were cleared. Municipal teams from many parts of the country were sent to İzmir to support the extinguishing efforts.

According to a report by İsmail Arı from BirGün, while the entire country was mobilized for the fire in İzmir, it emerged that Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya was attending a wedding in Gaziantep.

Yerlikaya also served as a wedding witness at the ceremony he attended on the evening of August 17. Mahsun Kırmızıgül also performed at the wedding.
