YÖK decision regarding the fake diploma of an Ottoman descendant

Within the scope of the fake diploma investigation, it was determined that Abdülhamid Kayıhan Osmanoğlu, a descendant of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, created a graduation record in the name of the Head of the Student Affairs Department at İnönü University by using a fake electronic signature. This fake record was noticed during YÖK audits, and the irregularity in the system was uncovered.

In the letter YÖK submitted to the prosecutor's office, it was stated that Osmanoğlu had no student or graduation record at any higher education institution. Furthermore, it was determined that he had repeatedly performed graduation inquiries using a phone number registered in his own name.

An indictment has been prepared against Osmanoğlu on charges of "forgery of official documents." The 65-page indictment includes details regarding fake diplomas and irregular appointments. It was reported that as the investigation continues, a public lawsuit will be filed once sufficient evidence is collected.

The indictment also emphasized that state systems were accessed with fake e-signatures and that individuals who did not graduate received academic titles. Osmanoğlu had previously claimed that he received poor grades due to history being taught incorrectly in history classes, but he will now be tried for his attempt to obtain a fake diploma.

Journalist Emrullah Erdinç, in a statement on his social media account, used the expressions, "Kayıhan Osmanoğlu's diploma reign has ended. The graduation record of Kayıhan Osmanoğlu, known as an Ottoman descendant, has been cancelled."
