Supreme Election Council (YSK) President Ahmet Yener made a statement to journalists before his visit to Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor Mustafa Çelenk. Yener responded to questions regarding election preparations for the provinces affected by the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.
Supreme Election Council (YSK) President Ahmet Yener made a statement to journalists before his visit to Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor Mustafa Çelenk. Yener stated that they concluded their visits to the earthquake zone, which began in Malatya, in Diyarbakır.
Yener noted that he and the council members visited the provinces affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, and that they made observations in the region to assess the current situation following the elections held last year and to address any needs of the election boards.

Wishing God's mercy upon the citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake and a speedy recovery to the injured, Yener spoke as follows:
"As a result of the contacts we have made during this process, we received information from our Provincial and District Election boards to determine the current status of schools in the region. Based on the information we received, if there was a need for containers, we consulted with our governors and took the necessary measures to address these needs. Our civil administrators did not spare their support for us in these matters. As of now, our schools and container areas are ready for the election. During the contacts we made in this process, we personally listened to whether the Provincial and District Election boards had any technical deficiencies on-site, and we also worked to resolve any deficiencies that existed.
The problems of provinces and districts in need regarding technical equipment and personnel shortages have been resolved. Today, we observed on-site that our judges and boards in Diyarbakır are ready for the local elections. I would like to thank our Governorship and Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for not sparing their support to our election boards during this preparation. I hope that we will conduct the elections in Diyarbakır, as in all of Turkey, on March 31, 2024, without any issues or problems. I wish for the upcoming elections to be beneficial to the country."
