Yusuf Halaçoğlu becomes Chairman of the Kutlu Party

Former President of the Turkish Historical Society Yusuf Halaçoğlu has been elected Chairman of the Kutlu Party.

According to a written statement from the party, the Kutlu Party Founders' Board met in Ankara yesterday to elect the party's chairman and authorized bodies.

In the closed-door meeting, Yusuf Halaçoğlu was elected Chairman of the Kutlu Party by unanimous vote. Delivering a speech after the election, Halaçoğlu said the following:

'WE ARE NEITHER CENTER-RIGHT NOR CENTER-LEFT'

"We are not right-wing, we are not left-wing, but we are not centrists either. We are not even center-right or center-left. These are artificial classifications imposed on us by the West. They have no equivalent in the field. We are directly patriotic. They ask us, 'Are you not Turkist or nationalist?' We tell them, 'Patriotism encompasses all of them.'"

Yusuf Halaçoğlu submitted the Kutlu Party's establishment petition to the Ministry of Interior on June 13, and the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation added the party, whose establishment procedures were completed on June 28, to the list of "active political parties."
