Zafer Party leader Ümit Özdağ awaits response from Akşener: 'Those who gave an appointment to HÜDAPAR...'

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, İYİ Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener stated that he has not yet received a response to his request to meet with her.

Ina statement made in Samsun, Özdağ noted that a potential cooperation between the two parties could reach 20 percent stating that it represents a potential, and emphasized that the electorate welcomed this proposal positively.

"I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE"

Özdağ made the following statement regarding the matter: "As the Zafer Party, we made a call to the İYİ Party as we head toward the local elections. In this call, we suggested that we postpone or set aside the issues on which we do not agree and realize a cooperation in the election. We stated that such a cooperation would represent a 20 percent potential and would save the Turkish nation from being polarized between two poles. Because of this, our proposal was met with great joy at the voter level. However, so far, I have not received a response to either this call or my request to visit Ms. Akşener.

As the Zafer Party, we conduct politics by placing the interests of the Turkish nation above all kinds of personal pride. We believe that it is our right to expect a response from the İYİ Party as soon as possible regarding this call for cooperation we made to them, and that it is also the right of the Ataturkist, patriotic electorate. We assume that the İYİ Party Headquarters, which gave an appointment to HÜDAPAR, will also grant an appointment to the Zafer Party."

The İYİ Party Chairwoman, in March 2021, HÜDAPAR's then-chairman had met with İshak Sağlam.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ had proposed a cooperation offer to the IYI Party via his social media account one day before CHP leader Özgür Özel visited IYI Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener.

There was no public response to this offer from the IYI Party. Ümit Özdağ had noted, "There has been no feedback from Ms. Meral Akşener; we are waiting. I hope they make the right decision."
