Zafer Party statement on Jahrein: Character assassination
The Zafer Party Youth Branch Headquarters described the events surrounding Jahrein as a character assassination in a social media post.
Famous social media streamer Ahmet 'Jahrein' Sonuç, who was detained on charges of obscenity, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
The way Jahrein, who was arrested due to "obscene" broadcasts on social media, was led through the courthouse corridor by police and the subsequent release of this footage to the media had sparked criticism.
Social media users and some political party officials reacted to the situation, interpreting the process as a move to silence opposition figures, especially after it emerged that Jahrein had made these remarks 3 years ago.
Following the events experienced by Jahrein, support also came from the Zafer Party. The following statements were included in a post made from the party's youth branch social media account:
TO THE PUBLIC
REGARDING AHMET SONUÇ, WHO WAS ARRESTED AS A RESULT OF PERCEPTIONS
We are aware of the attacks made against the family and person of Ahmet Sonuç, known by the alias Jahrein. A clear character assassination is being carried out against Jahrein, whose words satirizing a fatwa by the Diyanet have been distorted.
Is it justice to distort a criticism he made in 2021, release it 3 years later with an edited video, and ensure his hasty arrest based on this! We will follow this case closely with our lawyers. We will not sacrifice any opposition figure to the Palace regime!
The Zafer Party stands with the Turkish Youth and the Turkish Nation!
We will give the Turkish State back to the Turkish Nation!
