Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu had targeted Article 4 of the Constitution: MHP did not mention HÜDA PAR, targeted CHP instead

HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, known for his proximity to Hezbollah, targeted Article 4 of the Constitution during a television program he attended, stating, "I said it one by one as if explaining it to a fool, yet they insist on not understanding. We say that Article 4 of the Constitution should not exist. We are against Article 4 of the Constitution. Is that clear, do you understand? Article 4 is a mortgage on the will of future generations."

Reacting to Yapıcıoğlu's words, CHP leader Özgür Özel addressed MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, saying, "I am asking Bahçeli; what do you say about this HÜDA PAR? Who is with whom?"

Following this statement by Özel, the first response came from the MHP, to which all eyes had turned.

MHP Deputy Chairman İsmail Özdemir, on his X account, responded to HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu's statement, "We say that Article 4 of the Constitution should not exist. Article 4 is a mortgage on the will of future generations," as follows:

"It is clear that our country needs a new constitution that is civil, inclusive, and compatible with the Presidential Government System, which will meet the needs of our noble nation and our 21st-century ideals, instead of the 1982 constitution, which is a remnant of the coup era and has become, so to speak, a patchwork quilt. At this point, the debates that are being attempted to be started regarding the first 4 articles of the constitution are empty and futile. The MHP's stance, will, and determination on this issue are clear, explicit, and definitive. Despite this, it is tragicomic for the CHP—which has joined forces with FETÖ, which attempted a coup to dismantle the constitutional order, which has established partnership and bargaining tables with terrorist organizations and their political extensions that carry out ethnic-based separatist activities with the aim of tearing Turkey apart, and which has even claimed on a television channel sympathetic to the PKK that they would change the first four articles of the constitution—and the unprincipled and inconsistent left-wing press that supports it, to attempt to drag the MHP into a debate on this subject."

WHAT DOES ARTICLE 4 OF THE CONSTITUTION SAY?

Article 4 of the Constitution emphasizes the unchangeability of the first three articles, which set forth the fundamental characteristics of the Republic of Turkey. Arguing that this article places a mortgage on the will of future generations, Yapıcıoğlu stated that they are open to negotiations regarding other articles.
