Zeydan Karalar released, makes first statement

Zeydan Karalar, who was being held at the Marmara Prison in Silivri and was released following an interim court decision, left the prison in the evening hours. Karalar made a statement to Sözcü TV following his release.

Karalar stated that he was expecting the release date to be February 20 and used the following expressions:

We left a significant portion of my friends there, and we feel a sense of sadness regarding this. I want to express my hope that they will regain their freedom as soon as possible.

We were expecting the release decision around February 20; as you know, this was an interim decision, and the final verdict will be delivered on February 20. We have been questioning why we were being held in custody from the very beginning. We must not lose our faith in justice; I believe that the law will one day prevail for everyone.

Adana did not abandon me, and I have spent the greater part of my life working to make it more beautiful; it is all for our citizens there. I received news that a very large crowd is waiting for me in front of the municipality, and I thank them. They showed everyone how to stand by Zeydan Karalar; I thank them.

I was very relaxed during the hearing; I was curious about what this case was about. All the detained friends denied the accusations so beautifully that I believe they will also regain their freedom.
