Gopinath shared photos of the meeting on X, stating, "Excellent discussion with Turkiye’s Minister of Finance Mehmet Şimşek on the outlook for Turkiye and for the world."
Gopinath also tagged Minister Şimşek in the photo.
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has not yet responded to the post in which IMF First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath tagged him on her X account.
ECONOMISTS HAD POINTED TO THE IMF
Following the local elections, many economists had predicted that Turkey would reach an agreement with the IMF, primarily to lower the rising exchange rate and inflation.
