4 countries removed from the grey list: Is Turkey on the grey list?

At the FATF Plenary held in Paris between October 20-24, it was announced that four countries have been removed from the "increased monitoring process." These countries had previously been placed on the grey list due to deficiencies in their efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

South Africa and Nigeria were added to the grey list in February 2023, Mozambique in October 2022, and Burkina Faso in February 2021. However, these countries were congratulated by the FATF for taking significant steps to address their strategic deficiencies.

Following the decision to remove them from the grey list, the South African rand and the Nigerian naira gained value against other currencies. This development has had a positive impact on the economic situations of these countries.

TURKEY'S STATUS

Turkey was placed on the grey list in October 2021 and was removed from this list on June 28, 2024.
