5.1 percent decrease in fuel sales

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has published the retail sales index. According to the report, a decrease was observed in fuel sales. 

The retail sales volume at constant prices (2015=100) increased by 11.4% in December 2023 compared to the same month of the previous year. In the same month, food, beverage, and tobacco sales increased by 8.7%, non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) increased by 16.9%, while automotive fuel sales decreased by 5.1%.

In the same month, food, beverage, and tobacco sales increased by 0.3%, non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) increased by 2.3%, while automotive fuel sales increased by 1.8%.

INCREASE OBSERVED COMPARED TO 2022

Retail turnover at current prices (2015=100) increased by 80.0% in December 2023 compared to the same month of the previous year. In the same month, food, beverage, and tobacco sales increased by 78.8%, non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) increased by 85.1%, while automotive fuel sales increased by 62.9%.

Retail turnover at current prices (2015=100) increased by 4.3% in December 2023 compared to the previous month. In the same month, food, beverage, and tobacco sales increased by 4.1%, non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) increased by 5.0%, while automotive fuel sales increased by 1.9%.
