A new era begins at ATMs

With the demand for cash in the market peaking, banks have pressed the button as current ATM limits have become insufficient to meet the needs of citizens.

According to information from financial circles, banks have decided to double the daily cash withdrawal limits, which were stuck between 10,000 and 15,000 TL.

Daily withdrawal limits at automated teller machines (ATMs) will be gradually increased to the 30,000 TL level, and this practice will be fully implemented before the Eid al-Adha holiday.

IT WILL RISE TO 30,000 TL

A major consensus has been reached, including public banks such as Ziraat Bankası, VakıfBank, and Halkbank, as well as private banks, to meet liquidity needs. In particular, the change in the purchasing power of the 200 TL banknote, which is the largest denomination, was forcing citizens to access larger amounts of physical cash at once.

With the new regulation, withdrawing up to 30,000 TL in cash without entering a branch will no longer be a dream. This move aims to both reduce congestion within bank branches and prevent the high commission fees charged for exceeding limits.

Financial experts state that although digital payments are increasing, the reliance on physical cash in Turkey continues.
