A new era in gram gold sales

A new practice has been implemented in the banking sector in Turkey. Some banks have started selling packaged gram gold through ATMs to make physical gold more accessible to customers.

According to Haberler.com, special gold modules have been installed in ATMs at designated central locations as part of the pilot program. Thus, customers will be able to receive their certified and packaged gram gold via ATMs.

GOLD CAN BE PURCHASED OUTSIDE OF BUSINESS HOURS

Thanks to the new practice, citizens will be able to purchase physical gold during evening hours and weekends when jewelry stores are closed.

With this move, banks aim to increase the variety of transactions at ATMs and reduce transaction density at branches. The impact of the practice on the jewelry sector is expected to become clear in the coming period.

HOW TO BUY GRAM GOLD FROM AN ATM?

The process of purchasing gram gold via ATM will be carried out with the following steps:

Customers will be able to log in to the ATM using a debit or credit card or by using a QR code.

The desired weight will be selected from the "Gold Transactions" section in the menu.

Payment can be made from a demand deposit account or via credit card.

Once the transaction is completed, the packaged and security-stamped gram gold can be collected from the ATM's cash dispenser.

SECURITY-CODED PACKAGING WILL BE USED

The gram gold sold at ATMs will be presented in security-coded packaging produced by the Mint or accredited refineries. There will be a QR code and serial number on the packaging. This is intended to allow for product verification and to reduce the risk of counterfeiting.

The practice is currently available at certain pilot ATMs in major cities. Banks plan to expand the system to more ATMs in the future, depending on demand.
