Warning from AKP's Şamil Tayyar to economic management on 'real estate fair value'! 'If not corrected...'

The square meter unit values for land and plots to be used as the basis for property tax have been announced for 2026. These determined figures will also be valid for 2027, 2028, and 2029. While the new values announced by appraisal commissions have increased between 5 and 18 times in some regions, it has been observed that the increase has reached up to 40-50 times in metropolitan areas and tourism centers.

Experts emphasize that the real impact will be felt by citizens in May 2026 with the first installment payment of the tax.

Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar reacted to the new regulation in question and drew attention to the rental crisis.

Stating that "due to the exorbitant increases in fair values, some residences will fall under the scope of valuable housing, so there will be those who are newly introduced to this tax," Tayyar emphasized that the regulation in question is 'a regulation contrary to the natural flow of life' and noted the following:

"It resembles the Wealth Tax enacted under World War II conditions.

Last term, KKM fueled rents; in the new term, fair values will revive the rental crisis.

If not corrected, housing prices and rents will increase, and landlord/tenant conflicts will escalate.

It will be the low and fixed-income earners who suffer again, and at the end of the day, the heavy bill will inevitably fall on them."
