Amazon to lay off hundreds of employees

According to information obtained from Amazon, Mike Hopkins, Senior Vice President of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, mentioned the steps taken in line with the company's long-term vision in a note sent to employees.

However, pointing out that the industry continues to develop rapidly, Hopkins drew attention to the importance of prioritizing investments for long-term success.

Hopkins stated that while increasing investments, they have also identified opportunities to reduce or discontinue investments in certain areas, noting that as a result of these decisions, hundreds of employees in the Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios organization will be laid off.

Underlining that this was a difficult decision to make, Hopkins announced that they would begin reaching out to those affected by the layoffs today.

Hopkins provided information that they would provide packages containing various special support measures to those being laid off.
