Amount returned to TMSF account in fund scandal revealed: 31 stocks under scrutiny

New details have emerged in the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into manipulative transactions on Borsa İstanbul and the activities of portfolio management companies. To date, judicial proceedings have been initiated against 302 suspects within the scope of the investigation.

While 86 of the suspects have been arrested, judicial control measures have been imposed on 163 individuals. Arrest warrants have been issued for 35 suspects who are reported to be fugitives.

One of the prominent aspects of the investigation has been the payments made to the voluntary restitution account established within the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). According to a report in Sabah, a total of 2 billion 1 million 170 thousand liras was deposited by 9 individuals into a special account opened at the Birleşik Fon Bankası under the TMSF.

It was stated that these payments are linked to the voluntary restitution process and effective remorse provisions carried out within the scope of the investigation.

31 COMPANY STOCKS UNDER REVIEW

It was reported that findings regarding unusual price movements in certain company stocks were obtained through correspondence sent by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to the Capital Markets Board (SPK) and through digital examinations. Financial analyses indicated that some stocks were found to have been inflated by up to 100 times through artificial transactions.

Allegedly, the suspects made purchases through funds instead of collecting the targeted stocks directly from the market. Thus, while the stock prices of the relevant companies were artificially inflated, an increase was also achieved in the unit values of the funds holding these stocks in their portfolios. It is assessed that small investors were misled through this method.

The stock codes that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and SPK experts have taken under review as part of the fund-linked transactions are listed as follows:

ALKLC, ANELE, BIGEN, BTCIM, BURCE, BURVA, CELHA, DMRGD, DSTKF, EDATA, GMTAS, GRTHO, GUNDG, HEDEF, IEYHO, INFO, KERVT, KRDMD, KTLEV, KUYAS, MANAS, ODINE, OZATA, OZSUB, PASEU, PEKGY, PRZMA, SELEC, TEHOL, TRHOL and VSNMD.
