Annual inflation in Istanbul reaches 47.21 percent

In April 2025, the monthly increase in the ITO Istanbul Consumer Price Index, which serves as an indicator of retail price movements in Istanbul, was recorded at 3.21 percent. The rate of change compared to the same month of the previous year was announced as 47.21 percent.

CLOTHING EXPENDITURES GROUP SAW THE HIGHEST INCREASE

In April, the changes in categories in the Istanbul Consumer Price Index compared to the previous month were as follows:

-13.59 percent in the clothing and footwear expenditure group,

-6.66 percent in the housing expenditure group,

-5.22 percent in the communication expenditure group,

-3.93 percent in the transportation expenditure group,

-3.74 percent in the household goods expenditure group,

-3.15 percent in the restaurant and hotel expenditure group,

-3.12 percent in the miscellaneous goods and services expenditure group,

-2.29 percent in the alcoholic beverages and tobacco expenditure group,

-2.13 percent in the health expenditure group,

-2.03 percent in the entertainment and culture expenditure group,

-1.57 percent increase was observed in the food and non-alcoholic beverages expenditure group, while no change was observed in the education expenditure group.

WHOLESALE PRICES INCREASED BY 1.46 PERCENT

The Wholesale Price Index, which reflects wholesale price movements and increased by 2.30 percent in March 2025, rose by 1.46 percent in April 2025. In April 2025, the rate of change compared to the same month of the previous year was 28.85 percent, and the annual average rate of change was 43.11 percent.

On an annual average basis, increases by group in April 2025 were as follows: 86.86 percent in construction materials, 69.11 percent in textiles, 42.57 percent in chemical substances, 40.57 percent in food products, 33.41 percent in raw materials, 32.79 percent in fuel and energy, and 27.18 percent in minerals.
