Apricots were the price hike champion in Istanbul in May

In May, compared to the previous month, price increases were observed in 179 of the 336 main products in the index, while the prices of 45 products decreased. The product with the highest price increase last month was apricots at 48.11 percent, followed by intercity bus tickets at 47.98 percent, lemons at 18.55 percent, shelled hazelnuts at 15.75 percent, watches at 15.65 percent, and toys at 13.73 percent.

Other products with the highest price increases were makeup products at 11.03 percent, pistachios at 10.74 percent, baby formula at 10.46 percent, tablets at 10.42 percent, and simit at 10.38 percent.

Last month, apple prices increased by 10.28 percent, orange prices by 9.89 percent, mixed nuts by 9.40 percent, and oral and dental care products by 9.17 percent.

THE PRODUCT WITH THE LARGEST PRICE DECREASE WAS POINTED PEPPER

In May, compared to the previous month, the product with the largest price decrease was pointed pepper at 44.86 percent, followed by Charleston peppers at 44.01 percent, cucumbers at 42.09 percent, green beans at 39.89 percent, eggplants at 37.40 percent, and bell peppers at 35.09 percent.

Other products with the largest price decreases were zucchini at 29.07 percent, dry onions at 20.25 percent, green onions at 17.05 percent, eggs at 14.78 percent, and tomatoes at 13.92 percent.

Last month, garlic prices fell by 12.09 percent, arugula by 5.58 percent, curly lettuce by 4.38 percent, and strawberries by 3.33 percent.
