Are the Germans jealous of us? They said they would have it done in China and cut off communication!

Tele1 columnist Bora Erdin, in his article titled "Are the Germans jealous of us?", drew attention to a problem experienced by a textile company in Turkey in its trade with a German firm. 

In his article, Erdin pointed out that the German company cut off communication with the firm on the grounds that it had the work done cheaper in China.

"Turkey's strongest sector is undoubtedly textiles.

The textile and raw materials sector sent products to 199 countries and free zones last year.

The Turkish textile sector realized 9 billion 558 million 447 thousand dollars in exports in 2023.

Last year, sector exporters generated 9 billion 558 million 447 thousand dollars in revenue in exchange for 2 million 329 thousand 985 tons of products.

The highest amount of exports went to European Union countries with 3 billion 498 million 158 thousand dollars. The country at the top of the sector's exports is Italy with 749 million 431 thousand dollars.

Turkey needs to find foreign currency in a short time.

If there is no hot money inflow, exports and tourism will partially heal this wound.

However, exporters can also be defrauded by large companies.

A Germany-based company named Voxelle GMBH makes a preliminary agreement with a textile company from Turkey for a very large order.

The company in Turkey provides a price.

Samples are prepared. The German company is satisfied with the work done.

Suddenly, communication with the Germany-based company is cut off.

The company states that it gave up on the job, which was at the contract stage, because it would have it done cheaper in China.

And it declares this painful sentence in writing:

“We paid 900 euros for the samples. We didn't pay this much anywhere else. This corresponds to the annual salary of a Turkish family.”

While having work done in Turkey, the company calculates the cost of the product by comparing it to the annual income of 'us poor people'.

The company in Turkey states that it will complain to the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations (İTKİB).

But because the rule of law has ended in our country, the German company does not even care about the matter.

According to the Rule of Law Index; China is in 97th place, Turkey is in 117th place.

If there is no law, there is no hot money, and there is no trade."
