Attention car buyers and sellers: Critical deadline for second-hand vehicles extended
The regulation prohibiting the sale of second-hand motor vehicles before 6 months and 6,000 kilometers have passed since their first registration, along with the limitation on listing prices, has been extended until July 1, 2026.
The "Regulation on Amending the Regulation on the Trade of Motor Land Vehicles," prepared by the Ministry of Trade, has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.
6-MONTH AND 6,000-KILOMETER RULE TO CONTINUE
According to the regulation, individuals and businesses engaged in the trade of second-hand motor vehicles will not be able to sell motorcycles, automobiles, and off-road vehicles directly or indirectly before July 1, 2026, unless the 6-month and 6,000-kilometer requirement from the date of first registration has been met.
LIMIT ON LISTING PRICES REMAINS IN EFFECT
It was also announced that the practice prohibiting the marketing of second-hand motor vehicles by listing them at a price higher than the current recommended retail price set by the manufacturer or distributor will continue until July 1, 2026.
On the other hand, the period during which a high school diploma requirement will not be sought for authorization certificate applications for businesses with tax registration or professional chamber registration has been extended until April 1, 2026.
