Attention EYT retirees who find their pension low! Your salary may have been calculated incorrectly: The difference is paid to the retiree...

Retirement Age Trainees (EYT) pension processing continues, with nearly 200,000 files still pending completion.

According to a report by the pro-government newspaper Sabah, due to the high volume of applications, pension amounts can be calculated incorrectly due to errors in data entry, such as service identification, days eligible for pension, earnings information, or incorrect registration numbers.

THE DIFFERENCE IS PAID TO THE RETIREE

Those who believe their pension has been incorrectly calculated can request a correction by submitting a written petition to the provincial social security directorates. Once it is determined that an incorrect calculation was made, it is corrected as of the date of the petition. It is examined whether the error originated from the citizen or the Social Security Institution (SGK). If it originated from the Institution and the recalculated pension is higher than the previous one, the difference calculated from the start date is paid to the retiree.

For example, if a retiree who was granted a pension of 7,800 liras in May sees their pension rise to 8,200 liras after the correction, the 400-lira difference for each month, including October, will be paid to the retiree as a 2,400-lira difference as of November. Those who applied for retirement under the EYT scheme in March or April but have not yet been granted a pension need to apply to the SGK directorates. The delay in the pension may be due to missing premiums, registration issues, or premium debts.

PROCESSES CAN BE DELAYED

For those who were insured before September 8, 1999, retiring without an age requirement is a vested right, and the pension is granted once premium debts are paid and deficiencies are resolved. Some EYT retirees whose processes are ongoing and whose pensions have not yet been granted have service records in different institutions. Processes can also be delayed due to correspondence between different provinces and social security centers, as well as the identification of files. Files are located, services are consolidated, and the pension is granted after correspondence and deficiencies are resolved.

CALCULATION MUST START FROM AGE 18

According to the law, retiring without an age requirement for those insured before September 8, 1999, is considered a vested right. Once the conditions are met, a pension can be received by submitting a petition from that date onwards. In the current system, pensions are deposited starting from the beginning of the month following the month of application under the EYT law. Including those who will meet the conditions, a total of 5 million EYT retirees are expected to become eligible for retirement in the coming years. If the working period for EYT has not been completed, the pension granting process is not finalized. A male employee who started work in 1999 will be able to complete the required period for retirement next year. It should also be remembered that the starting age for long-term insurance is 18. Those who were insured before this age must perform calculations starting from the age of 18.
