Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek provided information regarding rental income tax declarations on his social media account.
Emphasizing that the Revenue Administration is meticulously continuing its efforts to identify taxpayers who earn rental income but fail to file declarations by utilizing administrative records (such as land registry and MERNIS) and technological capabilities at the highest level, Şimşek stated the following:
"To date, we have conducted on-site inspections of approximately 420,000 out of the 1.2 million properties we have included in our audit plan. We are continuing our field inspections and informing our taxpayers. We remind taxpayers who earned rental income above the 2023 exemption threshold of 21,000 lira that they must file their declarations by April 5 to avoid facing any sanctions. We are strengthening the fight against the informal economy for fair competition and fiscal discipline."
