August results in the banking sector: 382 billion lira net profit achieved

According to data from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the net profit of the Turkish banking sector as of the end of August 2024 was recorded at 382 billion 771 million lira. This figure stands out as an indicator of strong growth and increased efficiency in the sector.

SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN TOTAL ASSETS

According to the BDDK's report on "Non-Consolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector," the sector's total assets increased by 6 trillion 138 billion 881 million lira compared to the end of 2023, reaching a total of 29 trillion 689 billion 768 million lira. This increase reflects the role of banks in economic activity and their ability to respond to market conditions.

Loans, the largest asset item in the sector, reached 14 trillion 638 billion 585 million lira compared to the end of 2023, while the total value of securities reached 4 trillion 789 billion 933 million lira. The non-performing loan ratio was 1.69 percent, which demonstrates the banks' diligence in credit management.

DEPOSITS AND EQUITY

Deposits, the largest source of funds among banks' resources, increased by 17.6 percent compared to the end of 2023, reaching 17 trillion 460 billion 577 million lira. In the same period, total equity increased by 18.3 percent to 2 trillion 547 billion 267 million lira, which reveals the robust capital structure in the sector.

As of the end of August, the sector's capital adequacy standard ratio was recorded at 16.97 percent. This ratio demonstrates the banks' compliance with regulatory requirements and their effectiveness in risk management.
