Automatic hike period for highway tolls begins!
The General Directorate of Highways has announced that highway tolls will now be subject to an automatic annual increase. With the new regulation, hikes will be indexed to the Revaluation Rate.
A major change has been made to the toll tariff for highways used by millions of vehicles across Turkey.
The General Directorate of Highways-controlled toll road crossings will now be subject to automatic price hikes at the beginning of each year. This increase will be calculated directly based on the previous year's Revaluation Rate (YDO).
HIKES TO BECOME ROUTINE
Until now, toll fees were increased periodically based on need. However, according to the latest regulation published in the Official Gazette, starting from January 1, 2026, hikes will be tied to a specific schedule and will go into effect automatically every year.
With the new system, any fractions that may arise in fee increases will also be subject to regulation. The calculated figures will be rounded to the nearest 1 TL or its multiples for implementation.
THE 2024 RATE IS 43.93%
As it will be recalled, the revaluation rate determined for 2024 was announced as 43.93%. An increase at the same rate reflected in the 2026 toll fees could significantly impact drivers' pockets.
