Automobile sales figures announced

According to February data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), the automobile and light commercial vehicle market increased by 30.6 percent in February 2024 compared to February 2023.

In February 2024, automobile sales increased by 39.67 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 82 thousand 277 units, while the light commercial vehicle market grew by 6.6 percent to 23 thousand 713 units.

The total automobile and light commercial vehicle market in Turkey reached 185 thousand 691 units in the January-February 2024 period, an increase of 40.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Automobile sales increased by 52.11 percent in the January-February 2024 period compared to last year, reaching 146 thousand 318 units, while the light commercial vehicle market grew by 9.8 percent to 39 thousand 373 units.

The automobile and light commercial vehicle market in February 2024 increased by 112.6 percent compared to the 10-year average for February. The automobile market showed an increase of 118 percent compared to the 10-year average for February. The light commercial vehicle market increased by 95.8 percent compared to the 10-year average for February.

SHARE OF THE ELECTRIC AUTOMOBILE MARKET

By engine type, the automobile market saw gasoline car sales reach 97 thousand 861 units with a 66.9 percent share, hybrid car sales reach 21 thousand 594 units with a 14.8 percent share, and diesel car sales reach 15 thousand 910 units with a 10.9 percent share.

Electric car sales reached 9 thousand 772 units with a 6.7 percent share, and LPG car sales reached 1 thousand 181 units with a 0.8 percent share. Furthermore, sales of electric cars under 160 kW increased by 440.6 percent, accounting for an 86.3 percent share, while sales of electric cars over 160 kW increased by 45.6 percent, accounting for a 13.7 percent share.
