Automotive production exceeded 1 million in 9 months

The Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) has announced production, export, and market data for the January-September period.

Accordingly, total automotive production in the 9-month period of the year increased by 12 percent compared to the same period last year, rising to 1 million 74 thousand 155. Automobile production increased by 21 percent to 687 thousand 817.

Total production, including tractors, reached 1 million 117 thousand 620. In the 9-month period of the year, commercial vehicle production declined by 1 percent compared to the same period last year, while light commercial vehicle group production fell by 4 percent. Production in the heavy commercial vehicle group increased by 26 percent.

EXPORTS INCREASED BY 16% TO REACH 26.2 BILLION DOLLARS

In the 9-month period of the year, automotive exports increased by 7 percent in terms of units compared to the same period last year, reaching 733 thousand 956.

During this period, automobile exports increased by 20 percent compared to the same period last year, while commercial vehicle exports declined by 11 percent. Tractor exports also realized an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 14 thousand 462.

According to the data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, total automotive industry exports maintained their top position in the sectoral export rankings with a 16 percent share in the 9-month period of this year.

According to data from the Uludağ Exporters' Association, total automotive exports in the period in question increased by 16 percent compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 26.2 billion dollars.

In the first 9 months of the year, total sales increased by 63 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 894 thousand 663. During this period, the automobile market also grew by 67 percent with 666 thousand 890 units.

Looking at the commercial vehicle market, in the first 9 months of the year, there was a 51 percent growth in the total commercial vehicle market, a 28 percent growth in the heavy commercial vehicle market, and a 57 percent growth in the light commercial vehicle market compared to the same period last year.

During the period in question, the share of domestic vehicles in automobile sales was 31 percent, and the share of domestic vehicles in the light commercial vehicle market was 48 percent compared to the same period last year.
