Bad news for millions of retirees: 50 percent holiday bonus hike proposal rejected by Şimşek! The figure on the table has emerged
The proposal for a 50 percent increase in the holiday bonus for retirees was not found suitable by Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek. Now, an increase in line with the 15.75 percent salary hike rate is on the agenda.
The raise to be applied to the holiday bonuses of retirees, who are condemned to a starvation wage, closely concerns millions of people.
According to the report by Remzi Semercioğlu from Korkusuz, the Ministry of Labor proposed increasing the current 3,000 lira bonus by 50 percent to 4,500 lira.
However, this proposal was not accepted by Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek on the grounds that it would bring a burden of 23.8 billion lira for approximately 16 million retirees.
Instead, it is planned to increase the bonuses at the same rate as the salary hike. Taking into account the 15.75 percent salary hike rate, it is expected that 500 lira will be added to the bonuses, thus reaching a total of 3,500 lira.
These developments are reshaping the retirees' expectations for a raise.
