Ban imposed on mystery box sales in e-commerce

"Mystery boxes," which have recently become widespread on e-commerce sites and provide no information about their contents, have caught the attention of the Ministry of Trade. During a meeting of the Advertising Board, the Ministry decided to stop the sale of such products.

As a result of the Board's investigations, it was stated that "mystery box" promotions could negatively affect consumers' economic behavior. It was noted that such sales methods could lead consumers to make purchases they would not normally make, and therefore, they are considered unfair commercial practices.

In line with the decisions taken, the Ministry announced that it has imposed suspension penalties on nine different advertisers and sent warnings to the platforms where these products are sold to take preventive measures. It was emphasized that inspections will continue in order to protect consumers and combat deceptive advertising. It was specifically stated that efforts will continue uninterrupted to ensure that young consumers are not harmed by such practices.
