Banking sector's April profit announced
According to data from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the sector's net profit for the period as of the end of April reached 190 billion 721 million liras.
According to the BDDK's report on "Non-Consolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector" for the April 2024 period, the sector's total assets increased by 2 trillion 692 billion 353 million liras compared to the end of 2023, reaching 26 trillion 242 billion 586 million liras.
Loans, the largest asset item of the sector, rose to 13 trillion 147 billion 46 million liras, and the total securities portfolio increased to 4 trillion 375 billion 322 million liras compared to the end of 2023. During this period, the non-performing loan ratio of the sector stood at 1.52 percent.
Deposits, which constitute the largest source of funds among banks' resources, increased by 5.3 percent compared to the end of 2023, reaching 15 trillion 642 billion 392 million liras.
In the same period, total equity reached 2 trillion 321 billion 283 million liras, an increase of 7.8 percent.
As of the end of April, the sector's net profit for the period was recorded at 190 billion 721 million liras, and the capital adequacy standard ratio was recorded at 17.22 percent.
