Banks Association of Turkey responds to claims regarding cash withdrawals under 20,000 TL
The Banks Association of Turkey has announced that rumors suggesting cash withdrawals under 20,000 TL can only be made via ATMs do not reflect the truth.
The Banks Association of Turkey (TBB) has announced that claims suggesting cash withdrawals under 20,000 TL at banks can only be made via ATMs do not reflect the truth. In recent days, reports circulated stating that changes had been made to cash withdrawal procedures at banks and that withdrawals under 20,000 TL could only be performed via ATMs. While it was alleged that this practice was implemented to reduce congestion at bank counters, the TBB stated in its announcement regarding the matter that no such regulation exists. The statement included the following remarks:
'Reports from some media outlets operating on digital platforms state that banks are directing their customers to ATMs instead of using counters for transactions up to 20,000 TL, and mention statements from the Banks Association of Turkey. The Banks Association of Turkey has no such decision or statement regarding this matter.'
