Being a mother in Istanbul: Expensive according to IPA!

Dr. Buğra Gökce, head of the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA), shared the details of the 'Being a Mother in Istanbul' report prepared by the IPA.

Gökce stated that according to the details of the report, which he shared on Mother's Day, the primary agenda for mothers in Istanbul is the economy.

In a post on his X account, Gökce said, "We will continue to work with new investments and new initiatives to make our mothers' lives easier."

"According to the 'Being a Mother in Istanbul' report published by ipaistanbul, the agenda of mothers living in Istanbul is the economy:

In the first 3 months of the year, the domestic agenda of Istanbul mothers was economic problems at 52.2% and the March 31 local elections at 17.8%.

Under economic hardship, only 39% of Istanbul mothers believe they could eat a meat dish every two days if they wanted to, 33.6% believe they could buy new clothes, and 30.7% believe they could take a one-week vacation per year.

33.1% of Istanbul mothers work, while 66.9% do not. While the reason for not working for 65.2% of non-working mothers is housework and caregiving labor, other reasons include inability to find a job (5.6%) and lack of family leave (1%).

The istanbulbld has taken very important steps to make the lives of mothers in Istanbul easier and to support them:

28,788 mothers benefited from the IMM's 'Newborn Support Package', more than 10,000 mothers from the 'Yuvamız Istanbul Service', and 5,713 mothers from the 'Istanbul Baby Project'.

A total of 69,607 Mother-Baby Support Packages were delivered to families in need.

With the Mother Card application, mothers of children aged 0-4 gained the right to free public transportation in Istanbul. The number of those benefiting from the Mother Card application has exceeded 650 thousand.

Calculated based on current transportation prices, 3 Billion 484 Million TL has remained in our mothers' pockets thanks to the Mother Card over the past 4 years.

We will continue to work with new investments and new initiatives to make our mothers' lives easier."
