Sabah newspaper's Ankara Representative Okan Müderrisoğlu evaluated the policies of the current economic administration in an article he penned following the Central Bank's first Inflation Report of 2026. In this context, Müderrisoğlu stood out with the criticisms he directed at the economic management.

CRITICISM OF THE CENTRAL BANK

In the article, he interpreted the Central Bank's decision to keep the year-end inflation target fixed at 16 percent while simultaneously announcing a band range varying between 15 and 21 percent as an indicator of the economic uncertainty and pressure the administration is facing. Müderrisoğlu pointed out that this approach is a "stress indicator" for the economic management.

In the evaluation, which also included expectations from the economic administration, attention was drawn to the dangers of promises and conditional messages gaining weight in decision-making processes. Müderrisoğlu warned the administration with the expression, "One should not fall for the unbearable lightness of existing through promises and persistently conditional messages!"

One of the striking points was the reference made to the Berat Albayrak era while evaluating developments in agricultural prices and the potential effects of cold weather conditions. During the former Treasury and Finance Minister's term, incentive packages for greenhouse farming had been brought to the agenda. Müderrisoğlu argued that these incentives had agricultural production and price-balancing effects.

In the final part of the article, emphasis was placed on innovation in economic management. Müderrisoğlu drew attention to the necessity of offering more diversified solutions to managers instead of routine rhetoric and methods.
