Borsa Istanbul closes the first month of the year with new records! Here are the top gainers and losers
Borsa Istanbul continued its strong rally in the final week of January, providing high returns to investors. Kiler Holding, Akbank, and Enka Insaat were the week's top-gaining stocks.
In January 2026, the Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index refreshed records one after another despite fluctuations in global financial markets. By the end of the week, the index had gained 6.51 percent, closing at 13,838.29 points. During the same period, the lowest level recorded was 12,886.22 points, while the week's high was 13,906.51 points. With this rise, the increase in the index for the first month of the year reached 22.88 percent.
The banking index rose by 10.5 percent on a weekly basis, while the holding index increased by 9.42 percent and the industrial index by 4.74 percent. This performance allowed Borsa Istanbul to decouple positively from other global stock exchanges.
TOP GAINING STOCKS OF THE WEEK
Investor attention focused on the top-gaining stocks within the BIST 100 for the week. Kiler Holding topped the list with a weekly increase of 33.79 percent. It was followed by Akbank with 17.88 percent and Enka Insaat with a gain of 16.35 percent.
On the other hand, Gen Ilac ranked first among the week's biggest losers with a decline of 11.53 percent. Pasifik Eurasia followed with a 6.66 percent loss, and Pasifik Teknoloji with a 6.40 percent loss.
In the first month of the year, ASELSAN became the company with the highest market capitalization among those on Borsa Istanbul. Maintaining its expected lead with a market value of 1 trillion 382 billion 820 million TL, ASELSAN was followed by Kiler Holding with 958 billion 750 million TL and Garanti BBVA with 677 billion 460 million TL.
Last week, the total trading volume in BIST 100 stocks was slightly over 930 billion 795 million TL, with trading volume records drawing attention. Turkish Airlines was the most traded stock of the week with a trading volume of 87 billion 119 million TL. Aselsan took second place with 78 billion 452 million TL, while Is Bankasi placed third with 56 billion 211 million TL.
