BREAKING NEWS... TurkStat has announced February inflation data!

In February 2025, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 2.27% compared to the previous month, by 7.42% compared to December of the previous year, by 39.05% compared to the same month of the previous year, and by 53.83% according to the twelve-month averages.

The main group with the highest inflation on an annual basis was education at 94.90%. This high increase indicates that expenditures on education have increased significantly over the last year. On the other hand, the main group that saw the lowest increase on an annual basis was clothing and footwear at 20.84%. The price increase in this group remained more limited.

DECREASE IN CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR

Looking at the change in the CPI compared to the previous month, the largest decrease in February was seen in the clothing and footwear group at 5.06%. This indicates that prices, especially in the clothing sector, showed a decline as the winter season approached its end. The education group experienced the highest monthly increase at 9.92%.

Out of the 143 basic headings covered in the CPI, 25 experienced a decrease in their index in February. No change was observed in 5 basic headings. An increase was recorded in the remaining 113 headings. This situation shows that while there are generally more increases in consumer prices, there are also decreases in some areas.

The special-scope CPI indicator (B), calculated excluding unprocessed food products, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold, showed a change of 39.47% annually and 2.32% monthly.
