BtcTurk announces it has been hit by a cyberattack

The well-known cryptocurrency exchange BtcTurk has been hit by a cyberattack.

A statement regarding the matter was made via the BtcTurk mobile application. A cyberattack involving unauthorized withdrawals was detected on June 22.

It was announced that a portion of the balances in the hot wallets of 10 cryptocurrencies were affected by the attack. No statement has yet been made regarding the scale of the attack or the exact amount of the affected balances.

The initial statement issued by the company included the following:

"Our teams have detected a cyberattack that occurred on June 22, 2024, which caused unauthorized withdrawals from our platform. Only a portion of the balances in the hot wallets of 10 cryptocurrencies were affected by this cyberattack, and our cold wallets, where the vast majority of assets are held, are secure.

BtcTurk's financial strength is well above the amounts affected by this attack, and user assets will not be impacted by these losses.

Our teams are conducting detailed investigations into the matter. At the same time, official authorities have been contacted. As a precaution, cryptocurrency deposit and withdrawal transactions have been suspended and will be reopened once our work is completed as soon as possible.
