Bus company operating in Turkey for 63 years files for bankruptcy

Many companies have filed for bankruptcy due to the economic crisis. Hakiki Koç Turizm, a bus company that has been operating for 63 years, has now joined the list of bankrupt companies.

Founded in 1963 with its headquarters in İzmir, Hakiki Koç Turizm had established an important place in the transportation sector by organizing both domestic and international trips for many years. However, this decision to close has left hundreds of employees unemployed.

According to the report in Sözcü; Hakiki Koç Turizm began experiencing management problems following the death of its founder, Mehmet Niyazoğlu. Allegations emerged that the company was sold to Asya Tur in 2010, but Hakiki Koç was unable to maintain its presence in the sector for long. The company's website became inactive, and bus services were abruptly halted.

The company's first fleet consisted of four 1960-model Mercedes buses. Starting from İzmir and serving a wide area including major cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, and Eskişehir, Hakiki Koç grew over time with international routes. Its international transportation services, which began with countries such as Greece, Bulgaria, Germany, and Belgium, demonstrated the company's cross-border success. Additionally, it expanded its international service network by organizing Hajj pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia between 1968 and 1978.

The bankruptcy of Hakiki Koç Turizm marks the end of a long era in Turkey's transportation sector.
