Discussions regarding the 2027 minimum wage have resurfaced with calculations made based on the tax exemption item included in the Central Government Budget Law Proposal. The proposal envisions allocating 1 trillion 460 billion TL in resources for the contribution to be provided to employees within the scope of the minimum wage tax exemption.
According to a report in Birgün, approximately 1 trillion 92 billion TL in resources had been planned for the same item in the 2026 budget proposal. When comparing the proposals for the two years, a 33.7 percent increase in the resource in question is calculated.
If this rate is applied to the current net minimum wage, a scenario emerges where the net wage for 2027 could exceed 37,000 TL. It is calculated that if the minimum wage, which was applied as a net 28,075 TL in 2026, is increased by 33.7 percent, the new net amount would reach 37,536.94 TL.
According to the same calculation, the gross minimum wage could rise to 44,161.11 TL, and the total monthly cost to the employer could reach 54,649.38 TL. In this scenario, an increase of approximately 9,461 TL occurs in the net minimum wage.
However, increasing the resource allocated for tax exemption in the budget by 33.7 percent does not mean that the minimum wage will be raised by the same rate. The final figure will be determined as a result of the official process and the negotiations of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission.
