Card payments increased by 116 percent in November

The Interbank Card Center (BKM) has announced its data for November.

Accordingly, as of November, the number of credit cards in Turkey reached 115.8 million, the number of debit cards reached 188.1 million, and the number of prepaid cards reached 88 million.

TOTAL NUMBER OF CARDS INCREASED BY 16 PERCENT COMPARED TO THE SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR

Compared to November 2022, there was an 18 percent increase in the number of credit cards, a 12 percent increase in the number of debit cards, and a 26 percent increase in the number of prepaid cards. The total number of cards reached 391.9 million, showing a 16 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The total payment amount made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in November increased by 116 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 887.9 billion liras.

While 733.7 billion liras of card payments were made with credit cards, 138 billion liras were made with debit cards, and 16.2 billion liras were made with prepaid cards.

The growth rate for payments made with credit cards was 124 percent compared to the same period last year, while it was 82 percent for payments made with debit cards and 123 percent for payments made with prepaid cards.

The total number of payments made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in November increased by 23 percent compared to the same period last year, rising to 1.4 billion.

While 776.3 million of the card payments were made with credit cards, 520.9 million were made with debit cards, and 103.2 million were made with prepaid cards.

The growth rate in the number of payments made with credit cards was 25 percent compared to the same period last year, while it was 17 percent for the number of payments made with debit cards and 41 percent for payments made with prepaid cards.
