The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Payment Systems have been renewed with new technologies and architecture and have been put into operation. The CBRT Payment Systems, which consist of the Interbank Turkish Lira Transfer System (EFT), the Retail Turkish Lira Transfer System (PÖS), and the Electronic Securities Transfer System (EMKT), have been developed and renewed within the CBRT with the aim of transitioning to a more flexible and independent architecture, and began providing service as of February 23, 2024.
Operating since 1992 and redeveloped and put into production within the CBRT in 2013, the CBRT Payment Systems have been operating effectively and efficiently as the main infrastructure of Turkey's payment ecosystem for over 10 years. In 2023, approximately 780 million transactions were settled in the CBRT Payment Systems, with an average daily transaction volume of 3.1 million.
