Cem Küçük warns the government about 'change': 'It could backfire'

In the AKP, which fell to the position of the second party for the first time since 2002 in the March 31 local elections, the voters' demand for change continues. 

The fact that there were no changes in the latest Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting also caused criticism from figures close to the government.

"THE ECONOMY MUST IMPROVE FIRST"

Türkiye newspaper columnist Cem Küçük expressed his opinion on the matter as follows: 

"Evaluations regarding the election results are ongoing. The AK Party MYK met last Tuesday. It was expected that there would be some adjustments. But there weren't. There hasn't been a single change in the AK Party organizations. I wish there had been. It is said that it will happen in May and beyond. I think the AK Party is running late. It must make changes immediately. Otherwise, it could backfire. I was in the Western Black Sea region last weekend. The public's agenda is the economy and pensions. There is no other agenda. The economy must improve first.

Then come the organizations. It is essential to address that urgently as well. I think changes are needed in provinces such as Kastamonu, Amasya, Kütahya, Adıyaman, Kilis, Afyon, Uşak, and Şanlıurfa. Look, let me give you an example. Before the elections, one of the mayoral candidates in Şanlıurfa, Ali Rıza Gök, had explained to me one by one why the AK Party would lose. I didn't believe it. But what he said came true.

A friend of mine told me the same thing for Kütahya, for example. The AK Party should put all provinces on the table. If it is late, it may face trouble even if the economy improves. Let's say these things now so that precautions can be taken..."
