CHP's Kılıç had raised the issue: Statement from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance on the '500 vehicles will be purchased' claim

Republican People's Party (CHP) İzmir Deputy Sevda Erdan Kılıç stated that according to the 2025 budget, 2,298 vehicles will be purchased, 500 of which are for the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance issued a statement regarding Kılıç's claim.

In the statement, which noted that the claim in question is "untrue," it was stated: "The Honorable Deputy was informed about the matter yesterday and stated that she would make the necessary correction herself due to a misunderstanding. However, since the issue was covered in some newspapers in an untrue manner with headlines such as 'Minister Şimşek is building a fleet for himself,' it has become necessary to inform the public correctly."

Emphasizing that it is not possible to purchase vehicles unless provided for in the budget in accordance with the Vehicle Law, the statement noted the following:

"Furthermore, it is necessary to meet the urgent and mandatory vehicle needs of other institutions that arise during the year. Therefore, the alleged 500 vehicles are not directly related to our Ministry, and the expression 'to meet the needs of administrations within the scope of central government' is clearly included in the T schedule attached to the Budget Law as the place of use for the vehicles in question. In this context, the alleged 500 vehicles are not being allocated for the use of our Ministry; rather, it is planned to allocate domestic and electric Togg vehicles in exchange for liquidation and within the scope of public procurement guarantees to meet the mandatory vehicle needs of public administrations."
