CHP's Zeybek announces: Date set for 'Retiree Public Card' program

Millions of retirees are unable to make ends meet with the pensions they receive. Between rent, food, and bills, retirees are left with no money in their pockets. CHP Deputy Chairman Gökan Zeybek spoke about the "Retiree Public Card" program, which was initiated by CHP-run municipalities to provide support to retirees. Zeybek said that the program would be concluded by the end of October. Zeybek stated, "The 'Retiree Public Card' program needs to be implemented quickly. It is no longer possible for retirees to sustain their lives on these wages."

CHP Deputy Chairman in charge of Local Governments, Gökan Zeybek, provided information regarding the efforts related to the "Retiree Public Card" program launched in CHP-run municipalities. Zeybek stated that they are conducting coordination efforts with metropolitan municipalities and that they will also hold a meeting with provincial municipalities.

Zeybek explained the details of the program as follows:

"Our software processes regarding these issues are ongoing. We have reached a full consensus in the meetings we held with the municipalities. We also held a coordination meeting with our metropolitan municipalities in recent days. We will hold this meeting with our provincial mayors in Çanakkale on the 11th and 12th of this month. Instead of managing a top-down process, we will implement this with a structure where all our stakeholders directly contribute to the process. Because the 'Retiree Public Card' program needs to be implemented quickly. It is no longer possible for retirees to sustain their lives on these wages, and today the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce announced the inflation figures for Istanbul for September. The producer price index is above 4.70. All these figures show that the cost of living and price increases continue, despite all the lies told by the government. I hope that we will reach a result regarding the 'Retiree Public Card' program by the end of October."
