Civil servant and retiree salary increase rates to be announced today! Here are the figures on the table...

Following the 30 percent "misery raise" applied to the minimum wage, eyes have turned to the salary increase rates for civil servants and retirees.

Millions of civil servants and retirees are locked onto the inflation data that the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) will announce today (January 3).

The increase rates will be clarified following the inflation figures to be announced by TÜİK.

HOW MUCH WILL THE 6-MONTH INFLATION BE?

Economists' inflation expectations for December are at an average of 1.61%. If inflation occurs in line with these projections, the total 6-month inflation will be calculated as 16.42%.

INCREASE RATE FOR WORKER AND BAĞ-KUR RETIREES

Worker and Bağ-Kur retirees receive raises every year based on the 6-month inflation rate. In this case, the raise rate for retirees in January will be 16.42%.

HOW MUCH OF A RAISE WILL CIVIL SERVANTS RECEIVE?

For civil servants and civil servant retirees, the raise rate is added on top of the 10% collective bargaining increase made in July. The 6-month inflation difference is reflected as an additional raise for the portion exceeding this increase. This also includes the 6% raise stemming from the collective bargaining agreement. According to estimates, while the inflation difference is calculated at 5.83%, a total raise of 12.18% is expected for civil servant salaries.

IS A WELFARE SHARE ON THE AGENDA?

The possibility of adding a welfare share to the 6-month inflation-based raise rates is also being discussed. However, it remains unclear whether a concrete step will be taken on this matter.

HOW MUCH WILL THE LOWEST CIVIL SERVANT SALARY BE?

The lowest civil servant salary, which has been 39,177 liras since July, will rise to 43,948 liras in 2025 according to the 12.18% raise scenario. If the raise rate increases to the 13% level, this figure will reach 44,270 liras.

WHAT WILL THE LOWEST CIVIL SERVANT RETIREE SALARY BE?

The lowest civil servant retiree salary, which rose to 17,587 liras in July, will reach 19,729 liras with a 12.18% raise, and 19,873 liras in the event of a 13% raise.

WILL THE LOWEST RETIREE SALARY INCREASE?

Raises for the lowest retiree salaries are calculated based on the base salary. If the base salary remains below the determined minimum salary threshold after the raise, it is topped up to this figure. It had been stated that an improvement could be made in January for the lowest retiree salary, which was set at 12,500 liras in July. Expectations are that this figure will be between 14,500 and 15,000 liras.
