Civil servants to strike against salary offer: Protests across Turkey

Civil servants in Turkey are taking action against the salary offer made by the government. To protest the salary proposal presented by the government during the 8th term collective bargaining negotiations, Memur-Sen, Kamu-Sen, Birleşik Kamu-İş, and KESK will organize a strike on August 18, 2025. The actions will be supported by mass statements and large marches.

REACTION TO THE GOVERNMENT'S SALARY OFFER: CONFEDERATIONS REJECT IT

The salary offer proposed by the government for civil servants and retirees has received a strong reaction from the confederations. In the first meeting, the government had offered a 10 percent raise for the first half of 2026, 6 percent for the second half, 4 percent for the first half of 2027, and 4 percent for the second half.

However, the confederations rejected this offer. In the second meeting, the Public Employer Delegation proposed an increase of one thousand liras to the base salaries of civil servants in addition to the salary offer. However, this offer was not accepted either.

Civil servant unions will strike against the government's salary offer and hold mass statements. Here are the details of the actions:

The march, which will start from the Memur-Sen Headquarters, will end at Anadolu Square. A large number of union members are expected to participate in the march.

Kamu-Sen members will hold a press statement in front of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance to protest the government's salary offer.

Members of the Birleşik Kamu-İş Confederation will march from Anıtpark towards the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

KESK WILL MARCH FROM IN FRONT OF THE NATIONAL LIBRARY

KESK will gather in front of the National Library on August 18 and march to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The focus of the action will be the rejection of the government's salary offer.

STATEMENTS FROM UNION LEADERS

In their statements, union leaders emphasized that the salary offer presented by the government would not only fail to improve the living standards of public employees but would worsen them and leave workers without job security. They also stated that the government's attitude made major actions such as strikes and rallies necessary.
